Get Ready For The Season Ahead
Preparing now for spring drilling means you’ll be less vulnerable to unpredictable weather and won’t be delayed waiting on spare parts orders – you’ll be ready to drill when it suits you.
Here are a few steps you can take now to ensure you’re prepared.
Check your wearing metal
With the winter drilling season nearly over, now is a great time to assess your wearing parts and spares.
Do you have the right shares and boots for spring beans, for example?
And will those worn A shares last you another season?
Give your seed drill the TLC it deserves
Now is the perfect time to give your seed drill some TLC to ensure it’s ready for spring. Here are four key tasks to help you prepare:
1. Clean machinery to remove dirt, debris, seed coating and road salt.
2. Check distribution pipes, shares and boots to ensure they’re free of blockages.
3. Ensure your hopper is empty of seed and fertiliser to prevent attracting vermin that could damage cables and pipes.
4. Grease bearings.
